MEET NICOLA

Nicola Harvey

Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing Consultant, Speaker and Trainer

Nicola is a qualified and experienced mental health specialist, trained counsellor, DEI consultant, and senior teacher, with over 15 years' experience. She is also a specialist in adopting inclusive practice for SEND pupils.

With a compassion-focused approach, Nicola strives to embed restorative connection, and person-centred wellbeing into her practice.

Nicola is a Trustee of Black Minds Matter, an Anti-Racism in Schools Advocate; and an Accredited Clinical Reflective Practice Supervisor, approved by the British Psychological Society.

In addition, she is a published author, and an Associate Trainer for Mental Health First Aid England®, delivering a trauma-informed approach to support school staff and students.

THE APPROACH

Compassion-Focused Strategies

With her vast experience and skillset, Nicola continually supports school leadership teams to mindfully embed diversity, equity, and inclusive practice into the whole school approach.

Most notably, Nicola led a Pan-Sussex student digital health review based on principles connected to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. The final recommendations outlined in her report gained national recognition from NHS England.

When students and staff feel safe and have a sense of belonging and psychological safety in their educational setting, it can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.

An advocate of all things wellbeing, she is trained in a range of science-backed modalities. This includes counselling skills, mindfulness-based CBT, and emotional freedom technique (tapping).

Nicola uses a compassion-focused approach to help humanise, raise awareness, and reduce the stigma of diversity and inclusion and mental health in schools.
